On Wednesday 27 April 2016, Newtown will commemorate Freedom Day with thousands of youth celebrating the holiday through Hip Hop in the form of dance, DJing, graffiti, emceeing, beatboxing and skateboarding.
This year three surprise international Hip Hop acts will grace the stage, as they create a memorable celebration and the Play 10K Challenge competition prize money doubled for each winner, just to mention a few.
The theme this year is 10th Year Celebration – Family Reunion.
Play 10K Challenge:
The Play 10K Challenge is a competition sponsored by PowerPlay. It is an opportunity for upcoming artists and producers to gain exposure by competing for a spot to perform at the festival. Prize money is R10,000 for each winner. Submissions closed on 7 March and over 4000 entries were received. This week, Top 20 finalists will be announced and open to public voting.
Battle of The Bands:
Battle of The Bands is a new competition, where we are looking for 10x local bands to compete for a R30,000 prize. All that is required is for bands to email their profiles to email@example.com
Guess Who’s Coming:
Two international acts will be featured at this year’s festival. A competition named Guess Who’s Coming, is currently running and offers people the opportunity to win hampers by SMSing their lucky guess to 32545 by using keyword “GAS+ answer” Ends 27 March.
