Cosmo After Dark (NSFW)

Cosmo has been our biggest source of advice on fashion, makeup, love and well, all things naughty for decades. I grew up in a family where no talked to you about sex until you’re at least 18 and we all know by that time it’s a tad too late,in some cases. Everything I’ve learned about sex happened in school, the Biology class to be exact and of course Cosmo.I love reading, it’s always been my escape and even reading about sex used to make me blush; a true testimony to my innocence and naivety. Friends never talked about the fact that they’re sexually active for fear of being labelled a slut or worse so that mostly led to speculation. Being a really shy child counted in my favour, for once because I couldn’t even speak to a boy let alone do the unmentionable with him so I was safe throughout high school and long thereafter.

Cosmo has introduced this amazing new addition, After Dark  and I’m so happy it wasn’t around when I went to high school. I mean I would’ve been curious to try out everything  I’m currently reading on their site and bring out my inner cave woman/aphrodite/karma sutra goddess. Content ranging from Yourgasm to COSMOsutra already has every single hormone in a frenzy and that’s just the beginning. I love the fact that they’re embracing everything from BDSM to LGBTI because let’s face it, if it’s in Cosmo it’s out there in the world somewhere. As the title indicates it’s not suitable for work as some prudes might classify it under the same label as porn (lo and behold) but ironically that’s the only place I’ve accessed the site- at work. I claim its for research as I’m blogging on a part time basis but I’m looking for tips to erm blow his mind. I’ll take you through my favorite topics and how the writers at After Dark fed my thirsty mind with some much needed knowledge.

. 1. Risky business

If you’ve watched 50 Shades of Grey, I’m pretty sure you’ve read up on the BDSM lifestyle. If you haven’t watched it yet, please do as it wouldn’t hurt (no pun intended) to find out about other preferences out there. Who knows, your Mr Right might just turn out to be a Mr Grey in the bedroom. This section basically eases you into the world of rough sex, misconceptions about group/anal sex etc. (I’ve literally blushed while writing that sentence). It answers all the questions that you’ve been too afraid to ever ask out loud in a non-condescending manner.

2. Rude and raunchy Astrology

I’ve never believed in Astrology nor have I ever really read my horoscope. Reason for that being that my birthday is 21 May and some weeks I’m a Taurus, other weeks a Gemini. I do have strong qualities of both but I guess that’s where my weirdness comes in. I’ve never believed in the compatibility between star signs either but what’s being said on After Dark about Leos are definitely true so I might be a believer after this. The Astrology however only applies to women (about men) for now but hopefully in future they’ll cater for the gents that sign up as well

3. Jizzabel

This is one of my favorite sections as they got the guys involved. Questions posed to real men about what they want in bed, things to know about his body, how to turn him on etc. The responses will leave you wiser as to what he wants from you without having to communicate and would even turn a beginner into a “jizzabel”.

4. Keep it safe

Safety is imperative in our day and age of Aids, STD’s etc. This deals with debunking of STD myths, condom facts, questions that you would usually ask your gynecologist because you’d be terrified to ask someone else, questions about his parts that you don’t feel comfortable asking him etc.

These are just a few of the categories on After Dark and topics that they tackle but it’s definitely worth a read. I personally feel that everyone need to be educated on sex and safety to prevent Aids, teenage pregnancy, STD’s etc. and though the site is for over 18’s, you as an older sister or mother should read it and educate the youngins. After all prevention is better than cure. Curiosity about sex and everything sexually related is normal, let’s feed their minds with healthy information.

PS. As an added bonus for those of you who would like to expand their “toy” collection but dread walking into an adult store for fear that your pastor might see you, After Dark has teamed up with Desir to offer you a discreet shopping experience with R200 off your first order if you subscribe to their newsletter (be sure to use your personal email address and NOT your corporate one)
