Breast cancer is something that affects all of us at some stage in life whether it’s through a family member, friend or colleague. Cancer is, in most cases, a taboo topic as most see it as a death sentence and not something that can be treated, if detected early. Early detection do save lives, it’s not just a slogan, it’s a fact. October is national breast cancer awareness month but I do feel that we need to create awareness on a daily basis and encourage ladies to do regular check-ups. Companies like Clicks are offering free checkups for the month of October, all you have to do is book your spot in advance and it’s definitely something I will do because, despite my preaching to you, I haven’t done it yet.
How to check for lumps at home:
This picture is an easy guide as to how you can check for lumps in the comfort of your own home on a regular basis.
Competition for this month:
I have partnered up with 2 companies to bring you (pink)prices for the month of October.
If you’ve read my posts here and here you’d know that I’m a huge fan of Punked Neon Hairdye as it’s safe for all hair types and textures. Pink is the universal colour for this month so we’re offering one lucky reader a light pink hamper with aftercare products included.
The second price is a media pass for you and 2 friends to attend and walk in aid of breast cancer awareness at the 11th annual iThemba walkathon sponsored by Avon and Justine which include a goodies bag with a T-shirt and meals will be provided. If you’d like to take your dog with, just let me know in advance as I need to register him/her as well. If you’d like more information about the event, have a read here
