If you can think of a better way to unwind and celebrate the start of the festive season than a ladies night with your girls, sipping on Amarula while taking selfies with a sexy Santa, do let me know. Ster-Kinekor understands the struggle of juggling a career and family life while trying to unwind once in a while and that’s why they’ve introduced “Girlfriends Getaway.” Once a month, on a Wednesday (as it’s already duped “ladies night” everywhere) they create a little “event” especially for the ladies. Last night we were treated to chocolates, Amarula, a copy of Elle magazine and selfies with a sexy Santa before heading to our designated cinema to watch “Office Christmas Party“.
About the movie:
We all have embarrassing stories to tell about an office party but I doubt anything live up to the antics of the team in “Office Christmas Party“, which I duped the”Hangover” version on an office party. The plot of the movie is as follow: “When Zenotek CEO, Carol Vanstone (Jennifer Aniston) tries to close her hard-partying brother Clay’s (T.J. Miller) branch, he and his chief technical officer Josh (Jason Bateman) must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs.”
This epic party is obviously planned with the absence of Carol Vanstone in mind as they’ve told her they’ll cancel it. As luck would have it, all flights to New York are cancelled and she’s seen returning to the office with Fortune Feimster, who plays the role of the newbie uber driver that informs Carol there’s indeed a party happening at Zenotek. The aim of the party is to impress Walter Davis, played by Courtney B. Vance so much that he’ll invest 14 million dollars in the branch, which will keep it open. This movie has constant crude language, drug use, sexual content and graphic nudity and are definitely not something to watch with your children.
Some of the highlights include the typical geeky co-worker Nate, played by Karan Soni who want to prove he’s cool by hiring a prostitute, played by Abbey Lee Kershaw to play his girlfriend to impress his friends. It worked, until she decides to do some favours for his friends, at a cost of course. The weird co-worker, played by Randall Park who accidentally reveals his fetish to Allison played by Vanessa Bayer of SNL. Another familiar face from SNL, Kate McKinnon played my absolute favourite character in this movie, Mary Winetoss from HR. We also have Jeremy from Communications, played by Rob Corddry who have the hots for Mary, Josh and Tracey, played by Olivia Munn who eventually end up together, an appearance by “Jesus”, the “nativity scene (not sure where the baby came from), christmas tree fighting, while on fire and many more crazy antics.
An unfortunate accident (caused by pimps, prostitutes and staff) lead to the entire city being left without internet and thus creating an opportunity for the Zenotek team to fix it, which they did. In essence it means the branch will stay afloat and all’s well that end’s well. The company is a total mess after the party and it turned out that Walter Davis was fired from his previous company and didn’t have any contract to give but he had so much fun at the party that he ended up in hospital.
This is a movie that you watch when you want a good laugh. It’s not the best possible plot and with the amount of talent present, there’s just not enough room for all of them to shine to the best of their abilities but it’s funny nevertheless.
